July 28, 2015 – On Tuesday evening Castle Rock Firefighters were dispatched to a person stranded on the south rock face of Castle Rock, located near Sunset Drive & Rock Street.
The 15 year old was climbing with friends and found himself in a difficult spot with no safe exit. South Metro’s Technical Rescue Team was special called and crews made their way up to the top of the rock. As the incident progressed, an unexpected storm created gusty winds which made the operation even more difficult. A Firefighter made contact and determined that lowering him down would be more effective than a haul up. Once the proper rope system was in place the teenager repelled down to safety without injury.
