Situational Awareness In Light Of Recent Events

Screen Shot 2015-12-18 at 4.55.04 PMRecently there has been a lot of attention paid to events like Paris and San Bernardino, and rightfully so. These are complex and stressful events that require an extraordinarily well coordinated command and control function and seem to be an increasing threat.

Accordingly, next year Training/EMS/Special Ops will devote a lot of training to increase awareness and understanding of these events and provide additional skills to better manage an incident like Paris, San Bernardino, Aurora Theatre, etc. As part of the training, we will be rolling out several primers and build up trainings in 2016 that will culminate in an Active Shooter multi company training in October.

In the meantime, please take a few minutes to review the attached summary of the Paris Shootings. This is a great case study for officers and BCs to review and table top with your crews following the revised MCI SOG we covered last fall as a guide. If you have any questions, comments or concerns don’t hesitate to drop me an email or give me a call.

Thanks,
Steve Standridge
